Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) officially concluded its most ambitious and inspiring edition to date with more than 1,500,000 participants rising to the 30x30 challenge.

Launched in 2017 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, the 2020 edition helped motivate individuals across the city to take up 30 minutes of physical activity daily for 30 days.

From October 30 to November 28, the DFC's citywide movement empowered participants to make fitness accessible and easy for all. This year's edition also pegged the importance of holistic wellness and raised awareness about nutrition and mental wellbeing.

In a historic first, the iconic Sheikh Zayed Road turned into a giant cycling track for Dubai Ride. It saw more than 20,000 riders join Sheikh Hamdan for the epic ride.

Meanwhile, over 100,000 people converted the entire city into a massive running track for the Dubai Run. People of all ages, abilities and fitness levels were seen walking, jogging and running.

More than 620,000 students from across 600 schools in the country also participated in DFC 2020, while over 200 virtual events helped hundreds to work out from the comforts of their homes.

The 2020 edition also saw world-renowned fitness instructors and experts, including Luis Figo, Carles Puyol, Eric Abidal, Michael Salgado, Ibrahim Ba, Mikaël Silvestre, Sulley Montari, Bakit Saad, Mohsin Musibah, Kayla Itsines and Kelsey Wells, take up the challenge and guide Dubai to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, organisers commended the participants for following safety protocols diligently.

"We saw members of all sections of the community, of different ages and nationalities, warmly embrace the Challenge and exercise 30 minutes each day for 30 days," said Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council.
