Errani storms to Dubai Duty Free Tennis title

Sara Errani is the 2016 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Champion after a thumping win over Barbora Strycova. The Italian won 6-0 6-2 as the occasion got the better of her Czezh opponent. Errani didn’t need to get near her best for the win, as Strycova’s unforced errors dominated the stats – of the 58 points she won, 43 of them were gifted to her. With some moments of misfortune, such as a shot just dropping on the wrong side after clipping the net, and a lob narrowly going out, Strycova became visibly upset and had to compose herself on a number of occasions. After going down to a first-set bagel, huge support from the fans present put a smile on Strycova’s face, followed by a digit on the score-board early in the second set. However, despite the encouragement, she couldn’t mount a genuine challenge and eventually succumbed to the inevitable.
