Europa League: United, Spurs and Liverpool all advance

It was a good night in the Europa League for English sides, with all three progressing to the last-16. Manchester United responded to their shock 2-1 loss at FC Midtjylland in the first leg with a thumping 5-1 win in the return game at Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Spurs overcame Fiorentina in impressive fashion, winning 3-0 at White Hart Lane to advance 4-1 on aggregate. It was a tighter affair for Liverpool, who secured their place in the next round with a 1-0 win over German side Augsburg at Anfield, thanks to James Milner’s first half penalty.Elsewhere, Valencia reached double figures in their tie with Rapid Vienna - after hitting the Austrian side for six in the first leg, they won the second 4-0. Napoli’s 1-1 home draw with Villarreal saw them crash out 2-1 on aggregate; Lazio overcame Galatasaray 3-1 on the night to progress 4-2; and holders Sevilla are also through despite a 1-0 loss at Molde, after winning the first leg 3-0. It was a mixed night for German sides, with Dortmund knocking out Porto and Leverkusen getting past Sporting Lisbon, but Schalke succumbing to Shakhtar Donetsk.
