Construction work has been completed on Unit 3 of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in Abu Dhabi's Al Dhafra region.
It's now preparing for operational readiness and is on track to start up and deliver clean electricity in 2023.
The announcement was made on the sidelines of the COP26 summit in Glasgow.
The plant's Unit 1 is fully operational, while Unit 2 is connected to the UAE grid and undergoing testing while raising power levels.
Once all its four reactors are online, the facility will deliver 5.6 gigawatts of carbon-free energy for more than 60 years to come.
Today we proudly celebrate another milestone for the #BarakahPlant as Unit 3 construction is complete. Congratulations to the team for making this happen.#BarakahForTheNation pic.twitter.com/4QZIXCF3tq
