Hundreds of doctors in Dubai have been granted a 10-year golden residency visa in honour of their efforts to fight COVID-19.
It follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The long-term visas have been given to as many as 212 doctors of various specialisations working for the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
Sheikh Mohammed said it’s a token of appreciation for their selfless dedication to caring for infected patients.
He added that the UAE will successfully overcome the crisis, thanks to the strong solidarity between various segments of society.
The DHA's Director General Humaid Al Qutami thanked Sheikh Mohammed on behalf of the doctors.
"This gesture will further boost their morale and encourage them in their efforts to provide the highest quality of medical care for patients infected by the virus," Al Qutami said.
