Dubai Police are reminding motorists not to stop in the middle of the road after a biker crashed into the back of a truck that had stopped due a mechanical failure on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
The accident occurred Wednesday morning just after the Hessa Bridge, heading towards Sharjah.
Police said the motorcyclist is being treated for serious injuries.
Traffic patrols were quick to respond to the incident, securing the site, assisting in the removal of the damaged truck and restoring traffic flow.
Brigadier Jumaa Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic, stressed that stopping vehicles in active lanes is one of the most dangerous traffic violations, often leading to fatal accidents.
He added that drivers must ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before setting out.
Under the UAE traffic law, stopping in the middle of the road without justification can lead to a AED 1,000 fine, six black points and an additional AED 500 fine for obstructing traffic.
In case of a breakdown, police advise motorists to immediately contact authorities, activate hazard lights and move to a safe area away from traffic. Warning triangles should also be placed behind the vehicle if possible.
