His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has allocated AED 4.5 million towards the Sharjah International Book Fair.
The amount will go towards the purchase of new titles from Arab and foreign publishers who have a presence at the book fair.
A report from the Sharjah Book Authority suggests that the acquired books will help update Sharjah’s libraries.
This influx of resources will also serve students, researchers and academics in the emirate.
The amount is also expected to give a revenue boost to publishing houses and retailers who are making their way out of the pandemic impact.
