As many as 971 prisoners have been pardoned in Dubai ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
Their release was ordered by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Dubai Public Prosecution, in collaboration with Dubai Police, has started the legal procedures to implement Sheikh Mohammed’s directive.
Dubai's Attorney General, Essam Issa Al-Humaidan, said the initiative reflects Sheikh Mohammed’s keenness to reunite the pardoned individuals with their families, and give them an opportunity to get a fresh start in life.
