The last supermoon of the year, the Cold Moon, is set to light the UAE's skies on Friday, with Dubai Astronomy Group hosting a special viewing session from 6 pm.
The viewing session will be held from the Paddock Garden at the Meydan Racecourse between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
Named to mark the start of the winter season, the 'Cold Supermoon' will appear 14 per cent larger and 30 per cent brighter.
The supermoon is also said to signal the winter solstice, considered the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
Previously, the UAE witnessed the appearance of the 'Hunter Moon' in October and the 'Beaver Moon' in November.
