The UAE has approved the emergency use of the Pfizer- BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children aged between 12 and 15 years.
Making the announcement, the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said it's based on the results of clinical trials and strict local assessment conducted for the emergency use permit.
So far, the UAE has provided more than 11.42 million vaccine doses as part of its free immunisation drive to curb the spread of COVID-19.
On Tuesday, the US Food and Drug Administration approved the use of the vaccine in children as young as 12.
