The United Arab Emirates air defence systems intercepted 16 ballistic missiles and 113 drones during an attack on Sunday, according to figures released by the Ministry of Defence.
Officials said 17 ballistic missiles were detected, with 16 destroyed by air defences and one falling into the sea. A total of 117 drones were also identified, with 113 intercepted while four fell inside the UAE.
The ministry said that since the start of Iranian attacks, 238 ballistic missiles have been detected, with 221 intercepted, 15 falling into the sea, and two landing inside the UAE.
Authorities also reported 1,422 Iranian drones detected overall, with 1,342 intercepted and 80 falling within the country. In addition, eight cruise missiles were identified and destroyed.
The attacks have resulted in four deaths, involving nationals of Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh, according to the ministry.
A further 112 people were injured, with those affected including nationals from the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros and Turkey.
The Ministry of Defence said the armed forces remain on high alert and are prepared to respond to any threats targeting the country’s security and stability.
