UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has reinforced the country's commitment towards achieving "an immediate ceasefire" in Gaza at the Cairo Peace Summit in Egypt.
He joined leaders and representatives from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, and the State of Palestine, in addition to Turkey, Greece, Italy and UN, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League to discuss the Gaza crisis and ways to resolve the Palestinian issue.
Taking to his official social media channels, His Highness wrote: "In light of the critical circumstances that the region is going through, the UAE is working with its brothers and friends to achieve immediate ceasefire, provide protection for civilians, ensure safe humanitarian corridors to support the Gaza Strip, avoid the expansion of the conflict that threatens regional stability and security, and create a horizon for comprehensive peace."

The summit, convened at the invitation of the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, seeks to address de-escalation in the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian territories, emphasising the utmost priority of an immediate ceasefire and ending hostilities to prevent further expansion of the conflict.
Additionally, the summit will discuss developments related to the Palestinian cause and its future and work towards defining a clear horizon to achieve a just, comprehensive, secure, and sustainable peace in the region.
In his opening speech, the Egyptian President called for international protection for innocent civilians and an end to their targeting, warning of a severe humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
There are three main priorities on the summit's agenda, the most important of which is an immediate ceasefire and allowing the "sustainable" entry of aid and supplies into the Gaza Strip, which is suffering due to difficult humanitarian conditions.
In addition to seeking to urgently begin a comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution principle.
