The lunar lander, which is carrying the UAE's Rashid rover, is now safely orbiting the Moon.
The Japanese company ispace said that its HAKUTO-R Mission 1 lander performed its first successful lunar orbit insertion manoeuvre on March 21.
According to the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, the rover's subsystems will be tested five times until the completion of the lander's lunar orbital manoeuvres.
The first Emirati mission to the surface of the Moon is scheduled to land in late April 2023.
