Kolkata return to winning ways in IPL

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) snapped their four-match losing streak in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a 21-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday.

The visitors posted a competitive 200-5 with opener Jason Roy smashing 56 off 29 balls and captain Nitish Rana contributing 48 off 21 deliveries.

In reply, Bangalore were restricted to 179-8 in 20 overs as the spin duo of Varun Chakravarthy (3/24) and Suyash Sharma (2/30) tore through the top order.

Stand-in skipper Virat Kohli top-scored for Bangalore with a 37-ball 54 and Mahipal Lomror hit 34 off 18 balls.

KKR are currently placed seventh in the ten-team points table with six points, while Bangalore are in the fifth spot with eight points.
