Starting January 1, 2022, private schools in Sharjah will adopt a three-day weekend that's in line with the new workweek plan for government entities.

That's according to a Tweet from the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA), which said Friday, Saturday and Sunday will form the new weekend.

The education regulatory authority added that more details will be released over the next few days.

Last week, Sharjah announced its decision to adopt a four-day workweek for its government entities from January next year.

Making the announcement, the Executive Council of Sharjah said the changes are in line with the UAE government's recent decision to adopt a shorter workweek to "boost productivity and improve work-life balance".
