A group of social media users have been referred to the Federal Public Prosecution after they were caught violating "media content standards", the National Media Office said on Tuesday.
In a statement released on national news agency Wam, the authority said its team works round-the-clock to detect violations, notify users of their breaches and urge them to comply with regulations to avoid legal accountability.
It comes after the authority reminded social media users in March that those who do not uphold the country's "principles of respect, tolerance and coexistence" will face legal action.
The authority did not release more details of the violators.
NMO stressed that such measures aim to ensure a responsible media environment and protect communities from non-constructive content, calling on all users to engage on social media in line with media values and ethics.
