Abu Dhabi Police has urged the public to rely only on credible media sources and avoid spreading rumours and misinformation, while stressing that such actions contradict the values of positive citizenship and social responsibility.
The authority emphasised the important role of community members in combating false information and encouraged the public to seek news only from reliable and trustworthy sources. It also called for accuracy before sharing news on social media platforms, in order to avoid the harmful effects of rumours and misinformation on the safety and security of society.
In a post on Facebook the authority wrote: "The Abu Dhabi police called on the public on the necessity of retrieving information from reliable media sources and not to conform to rumours and fake information, ensuring that their dissemination is in line with the values of positive citizenship and community responsibility.
"It emphasised the importance of the role of community members in addressing rumors and misleading information, and urged them to obtain news from reliable and authentic media sources, and called for accuracy verification before circulating and publishing news on social media sites, to avoid the negative impact of rumours and inaccurate information on the safety and safety of the community."
