Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened a new bridge near the World Trade Centre as part of a wider project aimed at reducing congestion and improving traffic flow in the area.
The 500-metre bridge is designed to carry traffic from Al Bada’ towards 2nd December Street, with onward access to Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mustaqbal Street.
According to the RTA, the bridge can handle up to 1,200 vehicles per hour and is expected to reduce journey times from around eight minutes to two minutes.
The project also includes converting a nearby signalised junction on 2nd December Street into a free-flow intersection to improve movement through the surrounding road network.
The bridge is part of the wider World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project, which includes six bridges stretching a combined five kilometres.
Several sections of the project have already opened, including links connecting Sheikh Zayed Road with Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, as well as routes towards Al Majlis Street and Al Mustaqbal Street.
Officials say the development is intended to support increasing traffic volumes and improve connectivity in one of Dubai’s busiest areas near Sheikh Zayed Road.
