New restrictions have been announced in Abu Dhabi as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The emirate's Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee has prohibited parties and gatherings, in addition to reducing the operating capacity of commercial, economic and tourism activities, with immediate effect.
All movie theatres will be closed, while the number of people at marriage ceremonies and family gatherings has been limited to 10; and 20 for funerals and mourning services.
- Shopping malls will operate at 40 per cent capacity, while the capacity of gyms, private beaches and swimming pools has been reduced to 50 per cent.
- Restaurants, coffee shops, hotels, public beaches and parks are limited to 60 per cent capacity.
- Taxis will operate at 45 per cent capacity and buses at 75 per cent.
Inspections will be intensified to ensure compliance with the rules.
The committee recommended intensifying inspection and monitoring of all sectors to ensure compliance with precautionary measures, and reporting violators to the Attorney-General.
