New sustainability standards have been set for hotels across Dubai.
They include 19 different guidelines focusing on energy, food and water management plans, as well as employee training and community programmes.
The changes have to be implemented within 18 months.
Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has already trained around 45 per cent of the industry, with further sessions planned in the coming months.
