The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has established a Disaster and Crisis Management Office as part of efforts to enhance the health security system in the emirate.
The new entity is tasked with raising the health sector's preparedness level and enhancing its capabilities to address emergency situations.
It's also responsible for training and qualifying human cadres specialised in the field, preparing scientific research and studies for the future.
The DHA revealed the details on the sidelines of the International Conference and Exhibition for Relief and Development (DIHAD), taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Dr. Khalid Abdullah Lootah, Public Health Consultant and Head of the Disaster Management Office, highlighted the exceptional capabilities supporting the office.
These include the Operations and Control Centre, which is equipped with the latest electronic and intelligent systems for disaster and crisis management.
Two months ago, the DHA also started implementing the Dubai Disaster and Crisis Medicine Programme to raise the level of health preparedness in Dubai.
Over the next five years, the programme aims to enhance the skills and experiences of 10,000 government and private hospital leaders, medical, technical support and nursing staff in Dubai.
This comprehensive training will equip them to effectively respond to disasters, crises and emergencies.
