The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) has started using artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor and track the performance of its drivers and vehicles.
The smart system currently covers 14,500 drivers and 7,200 vehicles that include taxis, school buses, limousines, commercial buses and delivery motorcycles.
It helps the DTC's control centre deploy taxis to high-demand areas, track vehicle routes and ensure that drivers and bikers are following the rules.
The centre is also able to closely monitor school bus trips with the help of AI.
"The centre assists senior management in making swift and efficient decisions besides offering a comprehensive calendar of events happening in Dubai, ensuring the taxi fleet is deployed according to demand and the available vehicles are redirected to high-demand areas," explained Ammar Al Braiki, Director of Fleet Operations at DTC.
Tracking school buses
DTC ensures the safety of students, ensuring timely arrivals at schools and homes. This involves tracking the progress of trips, monitoring student details, observing driver behaviour and offering alert services when necessary.
Taxi clients
The AI-enabled system helps the DTC, which oversees the operation of 5,200 taxis, respond to the needs of drivers, direct them to high-demand areas, measure daily vehicle movement efficiency and analyse data.
