Filipino organisations in the UAE will gather for lunch the traditional way on Friday, October 30, to raise funds for the victims of Typhoon Koppu. Called ‘Boodle Fight for a Cause’, the event is being hosted by the Philippine Consulate in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. The powerful storm hit parts of the northern Philippines last week, killing at least 54 people and causing major floods before moving on to Japan. Deputy Consul General Giovanni Palec explains what a ‘Boodle Fight’ is.

The event is also a way of encouraging more Filipino expats to register to vote in the 2016 Philippine elections. Registration in the UAE can be done at Philippine missions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and ends on October 31.
