A five-year-old boy, who lost his EXPO 2020 Dubai passport containing over 100 stamps, has been given a replacement with all the stamps freshly minted.
Hassan Ali Abbas lost his Expo Passport and was “overcome with sadness” after managing to accrue more than 100 stamps from pavilions, according to a report from the event organizers.
It took eight visits for Hassan to collect the stamps.
After realising the passport had been lost, Hassan and his mother, Farida Ali Abbas, returned to more than 60 places they had visited that day – but to no avail.
Hopeful that the passport could be found, Farida contacted Dubai Police, who in turn promptly communicated with Expo 2020 Dubai.
Staff member Fabio followed the same path that Hassan took with his mother and collected stamps back on the new Expo passport.
Farida said that she could not "describe the great joy Hassan felt when we received a phone call from the Expo", adding that the whole ordeal "exceeded all expectations".
Marking the cherry on top, the organisers gifted the young fan a season pass that allows multiple entries to the mega event.
Now Hassan has a new mission to visit all 192 country pavilions and ensure that his new passport bears the stamps of every nation participating in the largest event ever held in the region.
