Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have greenlighted a road project in Al Quoz 2 that will help increase traffic capacity to 1,250 vehicles per hour.
It will involve the construction of a network of main roads extending 16 km, primarily serving the section between Al Khail Road and Meydan Road.
"The project will improve accessibility of Al Quoz 2 area such as the market complex and Al Quoz Lake Park and will serve about 3,000 residents," highlighted Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA.
The authority will also undertake the construction of internal roads extending 12 km at Nad Al Sheba 2, which will look into parallel parking, streetlights, rainwater drainage system and sewage network.
This will assess the condition of internal roads stretching 27 km, with the aim to improve connectivity to the residential community bordered by three main roads: Dubai – Al Ain Road towards the west, Nad Al Hamar St towards the east and south, and Al Manama St towards the north.
Two new entry/exit points for Al Manama and Nadd Al Hamar Streets have also been planned.
During the second half of 2021, the RTA also kicked off the construction of another internal roads project that spans 6.4 km in Al Barsha South 3.
Located at the Mohammed bin Rashid Gardens, the road network is surrounded by Al Barsha South 2 to the north, Al Hebiah 1 and 4 to the south, Motor City, Sports City and Arjan to the east, and Al Barsha South 4 to the west.
The project, which will also include streetlights, car parks and bus stops, will serve more than 4,500 residents and raise capacity of entry/exit points of Hessa St. to 1,500 vehicles per hour.
