Self-driving security patrols will soon be deployed in Dubai's residential areas.
Dubai Police unveiled their eco-friendly, fully electric patrol vehicle at GITEX Global on Monday.
The vehicle, which has been designed specifically for residential zones is AI-enabled and can detect criminal behaviour, recognise faces and read car licence plates.
It features an advanced 360-degree camera and can reach speeds of 5 to 7 km per hour, while its battery lasts up to 15 hours.
The patrol also includes an onboard drone and is equipped with direct communication technologies, allowing it to liaise in real-time with the Command and Control Centre at the Dubai Police's General Operations Department.
"This drone can access areas the vehicle cannot and maintains direct wireless communication with the patrol once launched," said Lieutenant Rashid bin Haidar from the Dubai Police's General Department of Administrative Affairs.
