Submissions are now open for a $50,000 award which aims to highlight the efforts of extraordinary students throughout the world.
The Chegg.org Global Student Prize will honour exceptional pupils who are making a real impact on learning, the lives of their peers and on society.
The prize is open to all students who are at least 16 years old and enrolled in an academic institution or training and skills programme.
Part-time students as well as those enrolled in online courses are also eligible for the prize.
It is a sister award to the annual Global Teacher Prize which is awarded by the Varkey Foundation.
Together, the Global Teacher Prize and the Global Student Prize will tell inspirational stories from both sides of education.
The prizes will shine a spotlight on the great work teachers do in preparing young people for the future and the amazing promise the brightest students are showing in their learning and far beyond.
Ranjitsinh Disale, the Indian teacher who won the US$1 million Global Teacher Prize 2020, urged UAE teachers to apply for the 2021 edition of the prize.
He also called on UAE students to apply for its new sister award.
"Like much of the world, the UAE has been turned upside down by COVID, and it is ultimately teachers and students that will play leading roles in the nation’s rebuilding and recovery. We must recognize their inspirational work in every corner of the UAE if we are to build a better tomorrow," said Disale.
Chegg.org, the advocacy, and research arm of American education technology firm Chegg, has partnered with the Varkey Foundation to create the new Global Student Prize.
Applicants for both the prizes can apply at www.globalteacherprize.org until April 30, 2021.
Delighted to welcome the launch of the new https://t.co/a0Ldayt8n8 Global Student Prize. Another inspiring initiative of the @VarkeyFdn #GlobalStudentPrize https://t.co/2bFs7er87f
