The UAE has praised the US military for killing the leader of IS.
On Sunday President Donald Trump announced that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has died in an overnight raid in Syria.
In a statement, the UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said his death was a positive step in making international counter-terror efforts stronger.
"The death of the terrorist Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi signifies a victory for all nations united in the fight against terrorism and extremism," said Dr. Obaid Al Ketbi, Assistant Foreign Minister for Military and Security Affairs.
"Coalition efforts will continue to dismantle IS and restore stability to areas that have suffered its atrocities."
Dr. Obaid Al Ketbi also said the UAE is firmly committed to working with its international partners to defeat IS and prevent the spread of its violent ideology wherever it arises.
