The UAE expressed its sincere condolences and solidarity with the Republic of Indonesia over the victims of the fuel depot fire in the capital, Jakarta, which resulted in the death and injury of dozens of people.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) expressed its sincere condolences to the government and people of Indonesia and the families of the victims of this tragedy, as well as its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.
The fire, which started at around 8 pm (1 pm UAE time) on Friday from a fuel pipe at Pertamina's Plumpang fuel storage depot in the capital Jakarta, quickly spread to nearby houses and sent residents in the densely populated area into a panic.
Authorities initially put the death toll at 17 but revised it later to 15. Dozens were injured, and more than a thousand people were displaced, the Indonesian police said on Saturday.
