UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has posted a special message to mark the Hijri New Year, with special prayers for "lasting peace and stability in the region and the world".
Posting on social media platform X, Sheikh Mohamed congratulated "the people of the UAE and Muslims everywhere on the occasion of Hijri New Year".
The Islamic New Year will be marked on Friday, June 27, with a holiday for public and private sector establishments in the UAE.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also extended a congratulatory message on social media.
"We ask Allah that it be a year of goodness, blessings and prosperity," Sheikh Mohammed wrote.
"May every year bring better days.. May every year bring our people safety, security, peace, stability and prosperity."
