The UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation has praised the Emirates’ flourishing friendship with Russia.
During a meeting of the UAE-Russia Joint Committee in Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said the two countries will continue to work closely to promote global economic growth and prosperity.
He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to the UAE shows the depth of bilateral relations across various sectors.
Sheikh Abdullah also thanked Russia for its support in helping the first Emirati astronaut, Hazzaa Al Mansouri, reach the International Space Station.
Meanwhile, Denis Manturov, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, who co-chaired the meeting with Sheikh Abdullah, said the UAE is Russia's key trading partner and they are looking forward to participating in Expo 2020 Dubai.
Putin will arrive in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday after concluding his tour of Saudi Arabia.
