The UAE firefighting and rescue team has concluded its operation in Albania, with nearly 1,300 tonnes of water and fire inhibitors delivered across 28 aerial sorties.
The team began its mission on August 12, following the directives of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
They worked alongside Albanian officials to douse the devastating wildfires and stopped it from spreading in the forests of Krrabë, Ballolli, and the coastal region of Vlorë.
The Albanian government honoured the rescue teams, including the UAE contingent, during a ceremony attended by Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama and senior military leaders.
Mohammed Al Sharif, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence, emphasised how the team’s significant contributions reflect the strength of bilateral relations between the UAE and Albania, as well as the UAE’s pioneering role in responding to natural disasters and humanitarian crises.
