The UAE has sent nine tonnes of medical supplies to support Chile in the fight against COVID-19.
The humanitarian initiative will benefit nearly 9,000 medical professionals in the South American country.
Theodore Ribera, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile, expressed his gratitude to the UAE for arranging the aid plane.
Commenting on the aid delivery, Abdul Razzaq Mohamed Hadi, UAE Ambassador to Chile, said: "Relations between the UAE and Chile are constantly evolving, and there is keenness to develop cooperation between our two countries."
"The medical assistance comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations and contributing to the efforts of the relevant authorities in the country to combat COVID-19 by providing protection to frontline medical workers," he added.
To date, the UAE has responded to the pandemic by providing over 896 tonnes of aid to various countries.
These shipments have supported more than 896,000 frontline workers in the process.
