One teacher will be honoured today with the prestigious $1 million Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize award.

Yasodai Selvakumaran from Australia, who is one of the ten finalists, told ARN News what winning the award would mean to her.

Putting teachers on a pedestal will inspire more people to take up the profession.

That's according to the Chairman of the Varkey Foundation Vikas Pota, who told ARN News that awards like the Global Teacher Prize can inspire generations of educators to come.
