The National Identity Committee has been established under a decision issued by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
It will be chaired by Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-Chairperson of the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council.
The Committee will oversee the National Identity Strategy, launched last November, and unify federal and local efforts within a cohesive national framework that reinforces shared values and national belonging..
It will operate under the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council, and plans to harmonise visions, avoid duplication, and enhance integration among various initiatives.
A national reference framework will also be established alongside a guiding methodology and an index that measures the levels of community adoption and assesses the impact of its initiatives. It will also propose and develop qualitative initiatives and projects and develop a national index to measure levels of community engagement.
The National Identity Strategy aims to strengthen national belonging and pride in the Emirati identity and reinforce family and social cohesion.
