As many as 2,025 people have been arrested in Dubai over the last three years in connection with unlicensed massage centres.
Of the lot, 1,643 were charged for violating public morals and 165 for printing and distributing massage cards
As part of a public awareness drive that aims to combat illegal activities at such centres, Dubai Police officials raided 218 flats and disconnected 3,114 phone numbers found on massage parlour cards.
The authority has warned the public against dealing with such centres, stressing that violators face legal liability and the high possibility of falling victims to extortionists.
"Not only do such cards promote illegal businesses, but also contain indecent pictures that violate public morals," highlighted a senior official.
People have been urged to report suspicious and illegal activities by dialling 901 or via the Dubai Police smart App.
Licensed massage centres are registered with the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing.
