Healthcare donations extended by the UAE’s Community Solidarity Fund Against COVID-19 have exceeded AED 144 million in value.
The contributions include medical tests for underprivileged people as well as medical and personal protective equipment.
They were made in coordination with government entities, charities and individual donors.
The Fund, which was launched in April, is managed by Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD).
It has helped conduct more than 46,000 health checkups worth AED 36 million, and donated over 233,000 units of medical equipment (including 460 ventilators and 300 medical beds) at a cost of AED 83 million.
Other contributions include nearly 5.7 million pieces of face masks, gloves, safety goggles and protective equipment worth over AED 17.6 million.
"The initiative reflects the strong solidarity shown by community members and their efforts to extend humanitarian support to all segments of society without discrimination. Remaining united and working together is crucial in tiding over this period," said Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Charitable Work Sector at IACAD.
